Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (The Center) and the Santa Rosa Symphony present a special musical event as a part of the2016-2017 Symphony Pops Series on Sunday, February 19 at 3 p.m. featuring cabaret star Ann Hampton Callaway singing hits from the Great American Songbook. Callaway joins the Santa Rosa Symphony for a celebration of 20th Century American music. From a command performance at the White House, to the Great White Way of Broadway, she has captivated audiences everywhere. The Tony-nominated star of the Broadway hit Swing! sings the timeless classics of George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter and many more from the Great American Songbook. The Santa Rosa Symphony will be under the direction of acclaimed Principal Pops Conductor Michael Berkowitz.

Ann Hampton Callaway is one of the leading champions of the Great American Songbook, having made her mark as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, actress, educator, TV host and producer. Her unique singing style blends jazz and traditional pop, making her a mainstay in concert halls, theaters and jazz clubs as well as in the recording studio, on television, and in film. She is best known for her Tony-nominated performance in the hit Broadway musical
Swing! and for writing and singing the theme song to the hit TV series "The Nanny." Callaway is a Platinum Award winning writer whose songs are featured on seven of
Barbra Streisand's recent recordings. She has sung with more than thirty of the world's top orchestras and big bands, and she has performed for President Clinton in Washington, D.C. and at President Gorbachev's Youth Peace Summit in Moscow.
Callaway made her feature film debut opposite
Angelina Jolie and
Matt Damon in the
Robert De Niro film "The Good Shepherd", performing the standard "Come Rain or Come Shine" as well as recorded "Isn't It Romantic?" and "The Nearness of You" in Wayne Wong's hit movie "Last Holiday", starring

With over 50,000 community members in attendance since the series began, the collaboration between the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts and the Symphony Pops Series is in its twelfth year in collaboration and is considered a signature part of the Sonoma County arts and culture scene. From the music of the classic jazz crooners to the tributes to pop sensations like ABBA and
Elvis Presley, the Sunday afternoon concert series at The Center has introduced new audiences to the great depth and range of sounds of the Santa Rosa Symphony and acclaimed soloists. Prior to each performance, ticketholders are invited to attend a discussion with Maestro Berkowitz as he provides insight into the afternoon's program and shares personal anecdotes and memories from his storied career working on Broadway with icons such as
Liza Minnelli,
Henry Mancini and
Marvin Hamlisch, among many others.
