La Jolla Playhouse presents the next selection in its acclaimed Without Walls (WoW) series, ACCOMPLICE: SAN DIEGO, written by Tom Salamon and Betsy Salamon-Sufott and directed by Tom Salamon. Part game, pArt Theatre and using the city as its stage, this exciting interactive experience will take place in San Diego's Little Italy district, tonight, March 26 - April 14, 2013.

ACCOMPLICE: SAN DIEGO offers a completely new immersive theatrical experience, taking its audience on a mysterious journey through iconic locations and out-of-the way spots - to aid and abet a series of shady characters with an impeccably crafted criminal plot.

The experience begins with a mysterious phone call disclosing a secret meeting location. Participants are then sent on a mission, aided by clues and idiosyncratic local characters lurking on street corners, in bars, neighborhood restaurants and out-of-the-way spots. The audience themselves become part of the story as they travel from place to place and clue to clue to propel the story. With San Diego's hip and historic Little Italy district as a backdrop for the action, the show sends audiences on a mission where identifying cast members from civilians becomes a challenging part of the fun, as they unravel the mystery.

"Following in the footsteps of Susurrus, The Car Plays: San Diego and Sam Bendrix at the Bon Soir, our next Without Walls presentation takes patrons to unexpected places for a theatrical experience unlike any other," said Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. "This time we're bringing our audiences to Little Italy for ACCOMPLICE: SAN DIEGO, where they will be fully immersed in a one-of-a-kind theatrical journey as they scour the streets for clues to help a gang of ex-cons. Like our other WoW productions, this exciting WoW presentation will continue to whet the appetite for our site-based festival in October."

ACCOMPLICE: SAN DIEGO takes place entirely on foot throughout the Little Italy neighborhood. "The Little Italy Association is thrilled to serve as the community partner with La Jolla Playhouse and host ACCOMPLICE: SAN DIEGO," said Marco LiMandri, Chief Administrative Officer for Little Italy Association. "Our neighborhood is made up of art galleries, public art and we are proud to host some of southern California's best and largest art events. Now, to be able to host a performing art exhibition such as ACCOMPLICE is truly phenomenal for us. Everyone is very excited."

The original production, ACCOMPLICE: NEW YORK, was created by Tom Salamon and his sister, Betsy Salamon-Sufott, in April 2005. Word quickly spread about this captivating theatre experience and shows began to sell out months in advance. In 2007, the team launched a new adventure, ACCOMPLICE: THE VILLAGE, which takes place in New York's Greenwich Village. A few years later, celebrated actor and La Jolla Playhouse veteran, Neil Patrick Harris (Rent; Luck, Pluck and Virtue), discovered a post card for ACCOMPLICE: NEW YORK and attended the show with some of his friends. He immediately fell in love with concept and teamed up with the creators to produce ACCOMPLICE: HOLLYWOOD and ACCOMPLICE: LONDON.

Tickets for ACCOMPLICE: SAN DIEGO range from $35 - $45 and will be available online at LaJollaPlayhouse.org or through the Patron Services Department (858) 550-1010, starting February 15 for La Jolla Playhouse Subscribers and February 19 for the general public. Please note that this is a 21+ experience (Excludes private parties). A few drinks and light bites are included. Each performance accommodates 10 audience members. Group sales are available. Smaller groups and solo participants will be paired with other guests.

Performances begin every half hour, Thursdays and Fridays from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturdays and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with preview performances March 19 - 21, from 4:30 to 7:00 pm. Patrons are strongly encouraged to arrive early to find parking. Late participants will not be accommodated.

The experience includes a mile of walking with minimal stairs and un-paved pathways. Patrons are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes and to dress appropriately for outdoors.

Tom Salamon is the co-creator, writer, and director of ACCOMPLICE productions in New York City, Hollywood and London. ACCOMPLICE: NEW YORK, the original production, was created and co-produced with his sister Betsy Salamon-Sufott, and began its run in April 2005. Catching fire as an inventive and unique experience, word of ACCOMPLICE spread and shows began to sell out months in advance. In 2007, they returned with an all new NYC adventure, ACCOMPLICE: THE VILLAGE. In 2009, the team joined forces with co-producer Neil Patrick Harris on a West Coast production, ACCOMPLICE: HOLLYWOOD, followed by ACCOMPLICE: LONDON in 2011 (again co-produced by Neil Patrick Harris, with the addition of London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory). Recently, Tom was engaged by Disney Worldwide to write and develop treatments for use inside Disney Parks. Twitter.com/TomSalamon

Without Walls (WoW): Funded by a generous grant from The James Irvine Foundation, WoW is a La Jolla Playhouse program designed to break the barriers of traditional theatre. Since 2010, The Playhouse has been commissioning and presenting a series of site-specific productions at locations throughout the San Diego community. Underscoring the theatre's mission of providing "unfettered creative opportunities for the leading artists of today and tomorrow," coupled with the idea that The Playhouse is defined by the work it creates - not the space in which it is performed - WoW is designed to offer theatrical experiences that venture beyond the physical confines of The Playhouse's facilities. Building on the excitement and success of its past WoW productions - Susurrus, The Car Plays: San Diego and Sam Bendrix at the Bon Soir, The Playhouse will be hosting a WoW Festival, October 3-6, featuring several site-based pieces by artists and companies from around the world.

The James Irvine Foundation is a private, nonprofit grantmaking foundation dedicated to expanding opportunity for the people of California to participate in a vibrant, successful and inclusive society. The Foundation's grantmaking focuses on three program areas: Arts, California Democracy and Youth. Since 1937 the Foundation has provided over $1 billion in grants to more than 3,000 nonprofit organizations throughout California. With about $1.5 billion in assets, the Foundation made grants of $65 million in 2011 for the people of California.

The nationally-acclaimed, Tony Award-winning La Jolla Playhouse is known for its tradition of creating the most exciting and adventurous new work in regional theatre. The Playhouse was founded in 1947 by Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire and Mel Ferrer, and is considered one of the most well-respected not-for-profit theatres in the country. Numerous Playhouse productions have moved to Broadway, including the currently running hit, Jersey Boys, as well as Memphis, Big River, The Who's Tommy, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, A Walk in the Woods, Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays, the Pulitzer Prize-winning I Am My Own Wife, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Farnsworth Invention, 33 Variations, Bonnie & Clyde, Peter and the Starcatcher, Chaplin: The Musical and the upcoming Playhouse-commissioned musical Hands on a Hardbody. Located on the UC San Diego campus, La Jolla Playhouse is made up of three primary performance spaces: the Mandell Weiss Theatre, the Mandell Weiss Forum Theatre and the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center for La Jolla Playhouse, a state-of-the-Art Theatre complex which features the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. La Jolla Playhouse is led by Artistic Director Christopher Ashley and Managing Director Michael S. Rosenberg.
