Kentwood Players announces auditions for "Dracula" on Saturday, July 10 from 11am-3pm and Sunday, July 11 from 6-9pm with callbacks on Monday, July 12 from 7:30-10pm at the Westchester Playhouse located at 8301 Hindry Avenue in Westchester . The production is directed by Shawn K. Summerer and produced by Alison Mattiza and Elizabeth Bouton Summerer. Performance dates are September 10 to October 16, 2010 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.

Bram Stoker, "Dracula" is a chilling and spooky tale about a bizarre illness fallen upon Lucy Seward, daughter to Dr. Seward, owner of an English Sanatorium in the early 1900s. Dr. Seward and Lucy's fiancé, Jonathan Harker, call in the help of Professor Van Helsing, an expert in the macabre. Their search for answers leads them deeper and deeper into the terrors of the unknown and the unthinkable.
The director requests that you bring a headshot, resume, and your appointment calendar with you to the auditions. Advance appointments are not necessary. Those auditioning will be asked to read from provided script sides.
Cast of Characters:
Count Dracula - (30s-40s) Tall and mysterious, polished and distinguished. Youthful in demeanor. Must be able to move comfortably and speak with a believable Transylvanian accent (no parodies).
Dr. Seward - (40-55) An alienist and owner of a Sanatorium in Purley , England . Father to Lucy. Must be able to speak with a Standard English accent.
Jonathan Harker - (20-35) A youthful, excitable, and incisive man. The "hero" of the story. Lucy's fiancé. Must be able to speak with a standard English accent.
Abraham Van Helsing - (40s-50s) A professor and old friend of Dr. Seward. Knowledgeable in all things occult and mysterious. Very direct and incisive in his approach, he doesn't "beat around the bush". Standard English accent is fine, but a Dutch accent is preferred as he is from Holland .
Lucy Seward - (20s) Beautiful and lithe. Suffering from a mysterious ailment making her pale, anemic, and weak. Engaged to Harker. Must speak with a standard English accent.
Renfield - (20s-30s) A patient at Dr. Seward's Sanatorium with an uncanny knack for escape. Likes to eat flies and spiders to gain their "life energy". Very shifty and impulsive. A very physical and energetic role, must speak with an English accent (standard or cockney is fine).
Miss Wells (Maid) - (any age) Lucy's maid. Dislikes rats. A smaller role which will double as a stage hand. Must speak with a cockney accent.
Butterworth (Attendant) - (any age) One of Dr. Seward's employees who is specifically tasked with keeping track of Renfield. Thinks Miss Wells is attractive. A smaller role which will double as a stage hand. Must speak with a cockney accent.
