Intrepid Theatre Co. announces that Yasmina Reza's Tony and Olivier Awardwinning comedy, 'ART,' will open the theatre company's first full season of production at the Horton Grand Theatre.
The international smash hit play marries art and friendship when three friends come to terms over the purchase of a white painting. Wildly funny dialogue and intellectual discourse intersect in this celebrated piece by Yasmina Reza, the twotime Tony, twotime Olivier Award and fourtime Molière Awardwinning playwright who also penned God of Carnage and Life X 3. 'ART' has been performed in over 30 languages and continues to set the standard for smart, captivating, humorous and thoughtprovoking dialogue.
Intrepid is proud to open its seventh season with this celebration of words, ideas and creativity. 'ART' will feature San Diego favorites Jacob Bruce, Jason Heil and Daren Scott, all of whom are making their Intrepid mainstage debut (see complete bios below). The production will be directed by Christy YaelCox, Intrepid's Producing Artistic Director and CoFounder.
Opening night is October 1 at 8 pm and the production will run through November 6, 2016 at the Horton Grand Theatre in downtown San Diego.
"'ART' is the perfect play to kick off our first season at the Horton Grand razorsmart dialogue, laughoutloud comedy and a provocative and insightful examination of friendship," says Christy. "Add in three of my favorite actors and an incredible design team and I couldn't be more thrilled to present this play to San Diego audiences. Reza's powerful language and witty discourse asks challenging questions that I think people will be discussing long after the play has ended. That's always our hope and our goal."
