Costume Designer Gregg Barnes and Actress Patricia Conolly Named Associate Artists of The Old Globe, 8/4

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today named Tony Award-winning costume designer Gregg Barnes and actress Patricia Conolly Associate Artists of The Old Globe. They are the 54th and 55th artists to receive the prestigious honor which recognizes their unique contributions to the institution.

"I am delighted to name these two incredible talents as Associate Artists of The Old Globe," said Spisto. "Gregg's renowned design skills are currently on full display on the Old Globe stage with his absolutely incredible costumes for Robin and the 7 Hoods. His intricate designs, sophisticated color scheme, and outrageous sense of humor are the trademarks of his success. Patricia has a long history with our institution, having first appeared as Rosalind in Jack O'Brien's 1976 production of As You Like It. Her prestigious career has led her to Broadway, the West End, Canada and Australia, and yet Patricia's artistic home has remained the Old Globe. I'm thrilled to welcome her back with our wonderful production of The Last Romance."

Gregg Barnes has designed costumes for the World Premiere of Robin and the 7 Hoods, currently playing in the Old Globe Theatre, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Lucky Duck, What the World Needs Now, Hay Fever and Suds at The Old Globe. His Broadway credits include Legally Blonde (2007 Tony nomination), The Drowsy Chaperone (2006 Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Award, Olivier nomination), Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Flower Drum Song (Tony nomination),Side Show and Bye, Bye, Birdie. Other New York credits include Sinatra: His Voice, His World, His Way (Radio City Music Hall), The Wizard of Oz (Madison Square Garden), Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Pageant (The Blue Angel and London's West End, Olivier Nomination),The Kathy and Mo Show, Eliot Feld's Behold the Man, Anyone Can Whistle, No, No, Nanette, DuBarry Was a Lady, Follies and Sweet Adeline (City Center Encores!). His National Tours include Legally Blonde, The Drowsy Chaperone, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Flower Drum Song, Disney's On the Record and Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Barnes' regional credits include Minsky's (Ahmanson Theater, L.A. Drama Critics Award), Mame (The Kennedy Center), Allegro (Signature Theatre, Helen Hayes Award), Flower Drum Song (Mark Taper Forum, L.A. Outer Critics Award, Garland Award) and productions at Arena Stage, Glimmerglass Opera, June Opera Festival of New Jersey and Paper Mill Playhouse. He is the recipient of the Theatre Development Fund's Irene Sharaff Young Master Award and a faculty member at NYU Tisch School of the Arts from 1982-2002.

Patricia Conolly is currently appearing in the Globe's West Coast Premiere of Joe DiPietro's The Last Romance. She first appeared at The Old Globe, invited by Jack O'Brien, to play Rosalind in his production of As You Like It. Other Old Globe appearances include Mrs. Alving in Ghosts, the Fool in King Lear, Wendy in Clap Your Hands and Emilia in Othello. She has just completed a critically acclaimed run in the Off Broadway production of Gabriel at Atlantic Theater Company. Her many Broadway credits include Mark Twain's Is He Dead?, Waiting in the Wings, Judgment at Nuremberg, The Heiress, The Circle, The Sound of Music, A Small Family Business, Blithe Spirit, roles with the APA-Phoenix Repertory Company and The Coast of Utopia at Lincoln Center Theater. In England, she worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Laurence Olivier's company at Chichester Festival Theatre and with Maggie Smith in Virginia on the West End. In Canada, she has played leading roles for the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, and recently played the nurse in Medea in Toronto. Other distinguished directors she has been fortunate enough to work with include Tyrone Guthrie, Peter Brook, Peter Hall, Tony Richardson and Ellis Rabb. In Australia, where she began her career, she has played with the Sydney and Melbourne Theatre Companies. She has played at the Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles in The Heiress and The Molière Comedies, at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami (opposite Theo Bikel) and has appeared at many major regional theatres in the United States.
