Grammy-nominated Jazz recording artist Sacha Boutros returns to Martinis Above Fourth with her popular show, Sacha Sings Streisand. Sacha created the show in 2014 because she always wanted to pay tribute to her longtime idol, Barbra Streisand. That show provided the opportunity to do just that and the audience loved every minute of it! Boutros once again brings her talent, charm and beautiful voice to Martinis Above Fourth to share songs from the Barbara Streisand catalogue with a one-night only performance on Thursday, May 19 at 8:00 pm. Tickets, available at www.ma4sd.com, are priced at $20 - $35.

In an amazingly short amount of time, Boutros, a San Diego native, went from gigging at a few San Diego clubs and U.S. festivals to touring the world and back, to having her recordings hit the top of the charts in Japan and on e-music, to even receiving a Grammy and Latin Grammy nod for 2008 and 2013 for Jazz and Latin Jazz. Recognized by music critics, peers, celebrities, and musical legends, Sacha Boutros is well known worldwide. The late, great American entertainer Frankie Laine had her sing at his 90th birthday celebration in 2002, with his orchestra made up of Herb Jeffries and Mundell Lowe, and called her his "ingénue." She's also opened for and performed with Patti Austin, James Moody, Red Holloway, Karrin Allyson, Julio Iglesias, Marvin Hamlisch, Chubby Checker, Ann Hampton Callaway, Patti Page, Kay Starr, and so many others.

"Sacha Boutros can sing the pants off a song like nobody else." - Carol Banks Weber, National Jazz Critic Examiner.com

At the Martinis Above Fourth performance Boutros will sing a selection of Streisand songs including hits from Funny Girl, The Way We Were, On a Clear Day, and other favorites. A fantastic rhythm section will accompany Sacha as they dazzle the audience with a night of everything Barbra. Boutros shares that she has always loved and admired Barbra Streisand. As she says, " Talent, beauty, brains, actress, director, producer; Streisand is one of a kind. I've seen every one of her movies and I've seen her in concert. I'm looking forward to performing some of her most popular songs as well as some that are close to my heart."

"What is it that sets her apart from the wannabes? Youthful spirit; spot-on intonation; phrasing, phrasing, phrasing; the ability to slightly alter a melody and not lose the intent of the composer; and, in the jazz world, that elusive "something" that separates a jazz singer from even a good pop singer." - George Fendel, Oregon Jazz Society

Sacha's album, Simply Sacha, would become the vocalist's calling card to the world. It was the most downloaded Latin jazz release on emusic.com, was nominated for two Los Angeles Music Awards as "Best Latin Vocal" for her original song, "Amor Imposible," and "Best Vocal," hit number seven on the Japan music charts, enjoyed heavy airplay at Japanese Airlines, and earned a Grammy nod as best new jazz album. To this day, the album's considered among the top 10 jazz and Latin jazz albums of 2008 in the U.S. and Japan. Her most recent CD, Sacha: NY After Dark, is a savory collection of old and new world jazz wrapped in dreamy remembrance, reminiscent of the hustle and bustle of the beloved Big Apple and its jazzy sounds after dark.

"A remarkable album of vocal jazz, likely to be one of the very best collections of straight-ahead jazz singing released anywhere in the world during 2013." - Jim Trageser, SD Troubadour
