Ever wonder what it would be like to be a part of a Broadway show? Find your inner diva and belt out Broadway favorites with DMT. We'll provide the music, introduce each tune and warm up your vocal chords. All ages are welcome and encouraged to join us. John Lewis, wardrobe master of the Douglas Morrisson Theatre, has compiled a wonderfully diverse collection of Broadway tunes, new and old, and will be playing piano for the evening, joined by Amy Lourenço, also on piano. Bay Area vocalist Debbie de Coudreaux will lead the audience in song.
Debbie de Coudreaux (vocalist/vocal director) Debbie de Coudreaux was the star of the Moulin Rouge in Paris for eight years, and appeared frequently throughout Europe in film, on television and on radio. Debbie's Broadway theatre credits include Grand Hotel and Show Boat. She was nominated for an MAC Award, and has released a CD entitled "Have a Little Paris on Me." Debbie was a guest soloist with the Oakland East Bay Symphony, played the role of Lady Thiang in Woodminster's summer production of The King and I, performed in Center Rep's production of Blues in the Night, and was a frequent guest star in San Francisco's wildly popular Teatro Zinzanni. In addition, Debbie is also the choral director at Holy Names High School in Montclair.
Amy Lourenço (piano) Amy's passion for music began when she was just a little girl taking piano lessons. Since then, her ability to play everything from classical to jazz has enabled her to travel and perform in a myriad of musical venues. She received her BA in Music, with a concentration in Piano Performance and Jazz Studies from Cal State East Bay. Amy has played and taught at the Julia Morgan Center for the Arts, accompanies the Berkeley Broadway Singers and teaches at Holy Names High School, where she recently served as Musical Director for their production of A Little Princess.
John Lewis (piano) has been with the Douglas Morrisson Theatre for almost 25 years as costume rental and costume shop supervisor as well as costume and set designer for numerous productions. John loves Broadway musicals with a passion and has collected records, CDs and playbills for many shows. He enjoys playing show tunes and other music on his baby grand and currently accompanies the Senior Chorus every week. For almost 20 years he has sung with the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus.
