Cygnet's current production, CABARET, will close on May 22, 2011.

The musical CABARET, set in the tumultuous city of Berlin just before Hitler's rise to power, introduces the interlocking stories of cabaret singer, Sally Bowles, the American writer, Cliff who takes her in and the other local denizens of a quickly changing society. Through it all, the Emcee presides over the Kit Kat Klub, serving as a constant metaphor for the tenuous and volatile state of late Weimar Germany. The provocative Kander and Ebb musical won 8 Tony Awards.

Cygnet's production of CABARET is its most decadent show to date. With Artistic Director Sean Murray at the helm, Billy Thompson as Music Director and David Brannen as Choreographer, the lavish production features many unique twists, including a female actress in the normally male-cast role of the Emcee. Cygnet Theatre's CABARET is sponsored by Dr. Ronald and Susan Heller, Robert Shapiro and an anonymous donor.

The cast of CABARET includes Joy Yandell as Sally Bowles, Karson St. John as the Emcee, Charlie Reuter (Award-Winning Musical Director of Cygnet's Sweeney Todd) as Cliff Bradshaw, Resident Artist Jim Chovick (A Christmas Carol, Desire Under the Elms, Copenhagen) as Herr Schultz, Linda Libby (Man from Nebraska, Hedwig and the Angry Inch) as Fraulein Schnieder, Resident Artist Melissa Fernandes (It's a Wonderful Life, A Little Night Music) as Fraulein Kost and Jason Heil (Noises Off) as Ernst Ludwig. Other cast members include Resident Artist Jacob Caltrider (Sweeney Todd, The History Boys), Joyelle Cabato, Andy Collins (Pageant), Eric Hellmers, Tony Houck, Marlene Montes, Rose O'Hara, and Katie Whalley.

The final performance of Cygnet's CABARET will be Sunday, May 22nd, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Cygnet Theatre is located at 4040 Twiggs St. in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Tickets can be purchased by visiting Cygnet's website at www.cygnettheatre.com, by calling the box office at 619-337-1525 or by visiting Cygnet's box office in person.
