The world's greatest detective is back in a classic adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat in SHERLOCK HOLMES: The Final Adventure at the Coronado Playhouse April 11-May 18, 2014. As Sherlock Holmes seeks to wind down his career through the arrest of Professor Moriarty, he and Doctor Watson are drawn into a blackmail case that involves a king and a world-renowned opera singer, putting them on a collision course with Holmes' greatest enemy.
Inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the 1899 play written by William Gillette and Mr. Doyle, playwright Steven Dietz has written a spirited, fast-moving, and thoroughly theatrical adaptation that draws Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson into a mystery filled with danger, intrigue, wit, romance, and suspense. "The game is afoot, Watson!--And it is a dangerous one!"
Coronado Playhouse is known for its tradition of enticing murder mysteries brought to life on stage in our intimate cabaret theatre setting. We are now also known as the Community's Theatre, partnering each production this season with a non-profit organization. Last fall, the City of San Diego premiered its new state-of-the-art domed Central Library @ Joan Irwin Jacobs Common downtown. The facility provides a home to the latest in technology along with educational and literacy services woven into a diverse series of cultural programs. In addition, the landmark building houses the e3 Civic High charter high school. Coronado Playhouse brings its cast of characters to the Central Library SATURDAY APRIL 19TH from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in a very special "SHERLOCK HOLMES FAMILY DAY" event. Join us for education, entertainment and enjoyment! There will be short previews of scenes from Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure in the library's auditorium, a photo booth to dress up and get that perfect 'selfie' pic as Sherlock or Dr. Watson and librarians have plans for mysteriously fun activities for children. You can also take a tour of the 9 story library with beautiful views of the bay, mountains and San Diego region.
Please consider making a cash or check donation to the San Diego Public Library Foundation during the run of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure. All funds benefit library programs downtown and in all 35 area branches.
We are also partnering with our neighborhood Coronado Friends of the Library by hosting a book drive during the run of the show. The local library is in need of books
in good condition or gently used including cookbooks, new fiction, novels, classics and children's literature. Bring donated books to the theater and drop them off in our Sherlock Holmes' private library shelves.

Director Nick Reeves and his team have added a few steampunk elements to the show. Steampunk merges Victorian England styling with modern technologies, creating intriguing works of art, fashion, and mechanics. Hints of steampunk design are featured on set and in costuming to enhance the story and bring an edge to the mystery.
