Coronado Playhouse opens its 2018 Season, A Family Affair, with The Addams Family, opening Friday, January19th and running until Sunday, February 25th, 2018 at Coronado Playhouse. The Addams Family, a musical comedy, is written by the creators of the multi award-winning Jersey Boys, with music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominated composer Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party) and based on characters created by Charles Addams.
Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, is all grown up and has a shocking secret that only her father Gomez knows. She's fallen in love with a sweet young man from a responsible family. With his adored wife Morticia in the dark, will Gomez manage to keep his daughter's secret until the two families meet for a fateful dinner with hilarious consequences? Join them all, along with Uncle Fester, Pugsley and more for this heart-warming story of love, family and friendship... with a twist! (snap, snap).
The original Broadway production, starring Nathan Lane as Gomez and Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia, ran for just under two years at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, and then toured the US and internationally being seen in Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Germany and the Czech Republic. Now The Addams Family comes to Coronado, California.
Playhouse favorite Rayme Sciaroni both directs and choreographs this production. Mr. Sciaroni's past CPH productions include Sugar (2015), Singin' In The Rain: In Concert and Rayme's Song Mash-Ups (2017) as well as directing and music directing CPH's 2017 Summer Camp production of The Lion King, Jr. Joining Mr. Sciaroni as Musical Director is another Playhouse stalwart, Michael Anthony. Mr. Anthony has previously acted as Musical Director at CPH on Thoroughly Modern Millie (2015), Seussical The Musical (2016) and James and the Giant Peach (2017).
