The Circus Collective of San Diego presents Circustantial Evidence: The Crimson Canary, a never before seen, original, theatrical circus production, beginning today, May 27.
It's 1942 in a dirty downtown club ran by Mad Mal, the "baddest" mob boss around. The "Canary" goes on to sing at midnight, but something has gone terribly wrong. A diamond necklace is missing and blood has been spilt. Love, jealousy, lies, theft, blackmail and possibly murder take the audience through twists and turns while the goofy and bumbling Inspector Danny Gibbs, with his sassy, quick-witted secretary, try to crack the case and bring the truth to light.
This original production written by Kayla Rose and directed by Jacqueline Witt fuses film noir style with contemporary circus in a refreshing and intoxicating mix of acrobatics, aerial arts, dance, comedy, and live music including creative vintage remixes of contemporary songs. Audiences will be transported to the world of classic crime and left with their bellies aching and heads spinning trying to figure out "who dun'it."
