Called a "gorgeously talented singer" by Sheridan Road Magazine, the San Diego Fringe Festival welcomes Broadway World Winner Robyn Spangler at the Lyceum Theatre at Horton Plaza with the San Diego Ballet Orchestra from today, July 3rd - July 8th (performance times vary).
A portion of the proceeds will benefit The AIDS Walk/San Diego Gay & Lesbian Center in memory of her best friend, Mark Miller, supporting the Team for Martinis Above Fourth.
The San Diego Fringe Festival is thrilled to welcome Broadway World Winner Robyn Spangler for her venue debut with her one woman orchestra show "Ronstadt, Riddle & Robyn" with the San Diego Ballet Orchestra with musical direction from fellow Broadway World Winner and San Diego favorite, Todd Schroeder (Los Angeles' Brian Kennedy subs at two performances) at The Lyceum Theatre at Horton Plaza ( 79 Horton Plaza), San Diego. Linda Ronstadt is best known as the queen of the "rock ballad" with her string of hits in the late 60's and early 70's but that's just the beginning of a four plus decade career in music that includes almost every genre. This concert celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Nelson Riddle/Linda Ronstadt album collaboration of the Great American Songbook and features selections from the three platinum certified albums: "What's New", "Lush Life" and "For Sentimental Reasons". This concert is performed with the ORIGINAL Riddle/Ronstadt charts. Those who have heard Robyn sing know that crossing genres is what drew her to showcase Ronstadt's career. Join Robyn for an evening of music, fun, a few surprises, and a little Linda.
This is Martinis Above Fourth | Table + Stage's 9th year participating in AIDS WALK. Each year their team raises over $30,000 and has consistently been among the Top 10 teams.
This is AIDS WALK's 25th Anniversary in San Diego.
"...Spangler delivers a truly stunning tribute to Linda Ronstadt. Robyn is a vibrant singer who fully engages the audience. I had such a good time that when the show was over, I wanted to cry out for more. Leaving an audience wanting more is a sign of a truly great artist.
