Balboa Park Puppet Theater announces their May 2010 Schedule, along with one June production. Shows include THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA, RUMPELSTILTSKIN, THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE, and MAXFIELD'S TIME TRAVELING FLEA CIRCUS. All shows are at the Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theater in Balboa Park (2130 Pan American Place). Tickets are $3 for Children ages 3 and up, $5 for Adults, and $4 for Seniors, 65 and over. VISA and MasterCard Accepted.

THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA will play from May 5th to May 9th. This full stage marionette production tells the story of a Princess from a far off land. The Queen wants to test this princess to see if she's a real princess in order for her to marry the prince. Marionettes are suggested for children, ages 3 and up. For the 11 am show on May 9th, mothers are free for Mother's Day.

RUMPELSTILTSKIN will play from May 12th to May 16th and from May 19th to May 23th. The story is of a miller's daughter who must do the impossible to save her father when she is ordered to spin straw into gold. A trickster by the name Rumpelstiltskin helps but then demands a terrible price for it.

THE TORTOISE AND THE HARE will play from May 26th to May 30th. This is a story of a pesky rabbit is up to his old tricks again, bragging and showing off. His clever attempts to take the easy road are his undoing in his race against the pokey tortoise. Recommended for preschool age and older.

MAXFIELD'S TIME TRAVELING FLEA CIRCUS will play from June 2nd to June 6th. An original tale by Max Daily, this story is about an inventor and time traveler, Maxfield, who enters a wacky world and winds up with a flea circus. This show uses a variety of puppets and a Victorian toy theater. 

The times for these productions are Wednesdays through Fridays at 10 am and 11:30 am and Saturdays and Sundays at 11 am, 1 pm, and 2:30 pm. Tickets can be purchase online here. More information can be found at www.balboaparkpuppets.com.
