The new musical, Night and Day, brings to the stage universal themes of the time that are relevant today. Jackson's vibrant lyrics and arrangements amplify feelings of isolation from society, homophobia, and nonconformity. Writer and director, Nick Williams, has created a vivid love story with a cast of local actors, singers, and dancers. The fast-paced musical has very few spoken words and uses each of the nine songs in the exact order they appear on Jackson's album.
The storyline follows a struggling musician who moves to Manhattan from a small town. He quickly gets lost in a wild place full of distractions and pitfalls. While seeking his own musical voice, the protagonist finds love and self-acceptance, helped by the thriving gay community of Manhattan's Greenwich Village.
