In the tradition of Chicana/o artists, the characters in Jesús Alonzo’s play live in nepantla, a Nahuatl word that means “in the middle.” His characters are Latinx, multiracial, queer, bilingual/biliterate, and cross-cultural, and encompass varying degrees of education. Reflecting Alonzo’s love of home, stories in The After-Life are set in San Antonio and South Texas.
Known for fearless, bold, audacious theatre, Teatro Audaz San Antonio presents this performance at the McNay in honor of a fearless, bold, audacious artist—Chuck Ramirez.
