Legally Blonde Jr. tickets go on sale June 21 for the July 20-21 performances
(San Antonio, Texas) – The Majestic Empire Foundation is thrilled to announce a new "Produced by Youth” Program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering artistic growth and honing the skills of young talent in San Antonio and South Texas. The inaugural program runs July 8-21 with the Summer Stock Production of "Legally Blonde Jr” produced in collaboration with San Antonio Broadway Theater.
This immersive two-week academy produced by The Majestic Empire Foundation and San Antonio Broadway Theater offers students from diverse backgrounds a comprehensive experience in musical theater production. Participants will engage in every aspect of production, from blocking and music to choreography, costume creation, and marketing and technical operations. In collaboration with the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA), student musicians will perform live music during the production at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre. This unique partnership ensures that participants receive a well-rounded education in both performance and technical aspects of theater production.
The “Produced by Youth” program is offered at no cost for students from households with a combined income of under $50,000. “To date, over 50% of our applicants fall within this income bracket, underscoring the program's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility,” said Blanchard-Pace.
This initiative is a significant step towards democratizing access to arts education, ensuring that all students, regardless of their financial background, have the opportunity to explore and develop their talents in a supportive, learning professional environment and show off their work on one of the top stages in San Antonio,” said Jaselyn Blanchard-Pace, Executive Director of The Majestic Empire Foundation.
The "Produced by Youth" program is a cornerstone of the Majestic Empire Foundation’s efforts to make hands-on professional arts education accessible to all. The two-week program culminates in an extraordinary production of “Legally Blonde Jr.” on July 20-21, 2024, in the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre located at 226 N. St. Mary’s Street. Legally Blonde The Musical Jr. tells the story of Elle Woods' journey as she confronts stereotypes, elitism, and controversy to achieve her dreams. It's an exhilarating adventure of self-discovery and personal growth, brimming with comedy, cleverness, and attitude — guaranteed to leave audiences tickled pink!
“We invite supporters of art education to witness the creative potential of our students as they come to life on stage and behind-the-scenes in this extraordinary production, performed and produced by the unbelievably talented youth of San Antonio and South Texas,” Blanchard Pace said.
Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased online at majesticempire.com or at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre Box Office at 1-888-246-3185.
