The Woodlawn Theatre will host the highly anticipated unofficial Fiesta event, the 14th annual Fiesta Frenzy! This year's show will be hosted by the dynamic duo of Eryca Daniels and Autumn Summers, and the proceeds will benefit the Pride Center of San Antonio. The show consists of some of the finest female illusionists from around the country. In addition to the illusionists, we will have comedians, Folklorico dancers, performance dance groups, puppet group "Las Monas", and production numbers from the theatrical productions "The Producers" and "In the Heights".
Fiesta Frenzy was originally created by Daniel Acosta and Greg Hinojosa, and began as a cabaret for the San Antonio GLBT Community Center. The first three years it was held at the River Center Comedy Club. After the Center was dissolved, Daniel and Greg continued the benefit every year to help people in the GLBT community. Past benefactors of Fiesta Frenzy include We Are Alive, BEAT-AIDS, San Antonio Aids Foundation, the Josephine Theatre, ChildSafe of San Antonio, San Antonio College. To date the Frenzy has given close to 100,000 in cash to these organizations combined.
This year's beneficiary will be The Pride Center of San Antonio. The San Antonio community is in desperate need of a GLBT community center, and this benefit will help them move into a space within our community. They will offer a variety of counseling programs and assists individuals both gay and straight with living necessities.
