The Symphony and The Majestic Theatre are teaming up with Santikos Entertainment once again to create movie magic with the North American premiere of "Jurassic Park in Concert". The full-length film classic features legendary composer John Williams' iconic musical score and will be performed in HD, with live-to-picture by the San Antonio Symphony. "Jurassic Park in Concert" comes to the Majestic on February 17-18, 2017, with shows at 8 p.m. both days and 2 p.m. on February 18.
"The sell out success of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark in Concert' last spring proved that we can expose a new audience to a Symphony performance through their love of movies," said David Gross, San Antonio Symphony President. "With this winning formula, we were excited to team up with the Majestic and Santikos Entertainment again to present a blockbuster hit movie like 'Jurassic Park' with its music performed live by the Symphony orchestra."
"As a company that has always valued high quality entertainment, we are honored to support the San Antonio Symphony once again with helping to bring movie magic on a big screen in the beautiful and historic Majestic Theatre," said David Holmes, CEO of Santikos Entertainment.
One of the most thrilling science fiction adventures ever made, and featuring one of John Williams' most iconic and beloved musical scores, "Jurassic Park" transformed the movie-going experience for an entire generation and became the highest-grossing film of all time in 1993, winning three Academy Awards. Masterfully directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the best-selling novel by Michael Crichton, "Jurassic Park" transports audiences to a secluded island where scientists have succeeded in reviving the age of dinosaurs in a brand new, immersive theme park, the likes of which has never been seen before.
Renowned paleontologists Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) are part of an exclusive group invited to the island for a sneak preview of the park's wonders. When things go terribly wrong, they must fight for their lives against unimaginable dangers in a desperate attempt to escape from a world gone mad... a world in which dinosaurs once again rule the earth.
Now audiences can experience this ground-breaking film as never before: projected in HD with a full symphony orchestra performing Williams' magnificent score live to picture. Welcome... to Jurassic Park!

The Historic Majestic Theatre is located at 224 E. Houston Street in the heart of downtown San Antonio, Texas. Built in 1929 by John Eberson for Interstate Theatres, the Majestic was intended to be the most modern building in South Texas and was the first in the state to be totally air-conditioned. The Majestic remains one of the finest examples of atmospheric theatres ever built, receiving National Historic Landmark status in 1993. Purchased in 1988 by the City of San Antonio, the theatre was renovated in 1989 at a cost of $15 million, and shortly after, in 1996, the stage was expanded, allowing the theatre to accommodate major Broadway musicals. Since 1989, the Majestic has hosted over 5 million patrons, all at no cost to taxpayers.
