Four hundred years after Shakespeare's death, The Classic Theatre continues their commitment to producing classic plays with contemporary connections with their production of William Shakespeare's comedy The Tempest.
One of Shakespeare's last and greatest works, The Tempest is part fairy tale and part romance, but nothing short of pure magic. Teaming up with director Mark McCarver, The Tempest has a stellar cast including co-founder Allan S. Ross as Prospero, and recent Classic intern Grace Lamberson as Miranda.
Set on a remote island, Prospero, the exiled Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter, Miranda, to her rightful place as princess of Milan, employing masterful illusion and skillful manipulation. Begrudged creatures and drunken clowns, charmEd Royals and magical spirits alike, all struggle between the temptation for revenge and greed, and the grace of forgiveness and humility. It is considered by many critics to be the last play Shakespeare wrote alone.
