FTC Opens Season 20 With A Revival of Their 2006's Hit DISNEY'S BEAUTY and the BEAST

Fredericksburg, TX (June 1, 2016) - The Fredericksburg Theater Company (FTC) will open Season 20 with a revival of their 2006 blockbuster production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Jim Weisman, will direct the production. The musical director for the production is Sarah Spillman. Disney's Beauty and the Beast opens Friday, June 17th, at 1668 South US Hwy 87, Fredericksburg, TX, 78624. The production runs Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays June 17th through July 3rd. Performance times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

Disney's Beauty and The Beast is considered to be a modern classic, debuting in 1994 and eventually becoming Broadway's 9th longest running production in history. Based on the 1991 Academy-Award winning film, which in turn was adapted from the French fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, Disney's Beauty and The Beast tells the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

The stage version includes all of the songs written for the film by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, including the Oscar winning title tune. Mr. Menken and celebrated lyricist Tim Rice composed several additional songs for the stage version. The original Broadway production was nominated for 9 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Cast in the production are Madison Grumbles as Belle, Zac Tiedemann as The Beast, Jeff Jeffers as Gaston and Casey Cowan as LeFou. FTC veteran Robert Menking will play Belle's father, Maurice. San Antonio actor Eric Soto will portray Cogsworth, the clock. Pierre Minjauw will play the role of Lumiere, the singing candlestick. Holly Robinson will portray Babette, the Featherduster. Amber Nanni will play Mrs. Potts, the same role she performed in FTC's 2006 production. David Jumes will play Chip, the son of Mrs. Potts. Costume designer Chasity Neutze is also in the production, playing the part of Madame de la Grande Bouche.

Other members of the cast are Katie Murphy, Christy Brown, Augusta Bolton, Judah Farmer, Collin James, Mark Jumes, David Wilkinson, Richard Carroll, Jorja Hahn, Marcie Jumes, Prayer Palau, Maddie Smith, Augusta Bolton, Anthony Baker, Miles Fluitt, Landon Priess, Idalyis Sanchez, Lainne Bell, Caedmon Palau, Che Palau, Dana Stableford, Lucinda Harvey, Taylor Sparkman, Rhonda Behrends, Sarah Fontenot, Randye McAnally, Carol Ann Shepherd, Hollie Baker, Deborah Haggard, Sheri Robinson, Letha Rousseau, Idalyis Sanchez, Shelby Morton, and Taylor Morton.

Performances for Disney's Beauty and The Beast will be June 17 through July 3, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2:00 pm. Admission is $29 for adults, $12 for children 17 and under. Seating per show is limited to 250 persons. Tickets go on sale to the public June 18. Tickets can be purchased online at www.fredericksburgtheater.org.
