As the lights dim and the show begins, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA continues to captivate audiences all over the world. Since the show made its debut in 1986, many have enjoyed its haunting story and superb music. The current tour of PHANTOM recently opened in San Antonio to excited and nearly sold-out audiences at the Majestic Theatre. This production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA brings some changes to the scenery and interpretation of the award winning musical. The scenery imagined by Paul Brown has taken on a different look including the use of a revolving stage and mirrors. While the iconic grand staircase is missing, the grandeur of this set does not disappoint. The chandelier and its dramatic effect also continues to amaze all in attendance.

While all of the sights of this current production are impressive, equally impressive are the talented performers on this grand stage. Chris Mann plays the role of the Phantom and commands attention as his strong classical music training is evident during his performance of "Phantom of the Opera" and "The Music of the Night." His crystal clear vibrato and flawless presentation had the audience mesmerized and empathic toward the Phantom. It's clear that Mann's years of training are a great asset to his character. And Katie Travis as Christine Daaé complements Mann's strengths as she makes the character her own. As she performs, "Think of Me" at the beginning of the show, Travis sings it flawlessly. A standout in the show also was Storm Lineberger as Raoul. As Daaé's love interest, Lineberger makes his tour debut. Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, he seems to have embraced his role as Raoul. The rest of the cast including Jacquelynne Fontaine as Carlotta Giudicelli, Frank Viveros as Ubaldo Piangi, and Anne Kanengeiser as Madam Giry gave outstanding performances in this production.

Do not miss the chance to see this show while it's here in San Antonio. There are very limited tickets available and you can get them by going to The Majestic Theatre's website.
