Enter stage left…Georges presents LA CAGE AUX FOLLES at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas.

Playing center stage at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas this week is the exhilarating LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Starring George Hamiltonas Georges and Christopher Sieber as Albin/ZaZa, this show was entertaining from start to finish. George Hamilton was intriguing as Georges and Christopher Sieber lit up as Albin/ZaZa. Each actor brought his own personality into the role which made the show even more intimate.

As George Hamilton slipped flawlessly into his role as Georges, the audience was immediately drawn into the character and began to understand him on new levels. Georges is a hard-working man who just wants to do right for his family and take care of the people he loves so much. George Hamilton’s acting and singing were what you would expect and his dancing kept in sync with his character. As Georges performed “Song on the Sand,” his voice was very subtle and George Hamilton did a respectable job singing this. Hamilton still was able to turn on the charm and give the audience what they wanted in the still bronzed ever charismatic stage presence.

Enter Christopher Sieberwho seemed meant for the role of Albin/ZaZa. He portrayed the part as if he was Albin and as if that is who he always was. His over the top acting made Albin more loveable and endearing. Albin is a man who loves what he does and loves his family. His talent as a singer gives him confidence onstage, but the role in his family has him feeling more insecure and vulnerable. As Christopher Sieber sang “A Little More Mascara,” his vulnerability came out. However, as he sang, he drew in the audience and helped everyone to see what a true talent Sieber is. He owned the stage, he carried the other characters, and he shone as Albin. The audience couldn’t help but applaud for each song that he sang. But, the song that seemed to stand out the most of all of Sieber’s songs that evening had to be “I Am What I Am.” The raw emotion and the strength of Sieber’s voice, was exemplary and worthy of a Tony nomination. There’s no question that Christopher Sieber is a star.

The other stand-outs of the evening had to include “Les Cagelles” who are stars in their own right. Matt Anctil, Logan Keslar, Donald C. Shorter, Jr., Mark Roland, Terry Lavell, and Trevor Downeyshowed great talent and skill. Not only did they have to be great singers and dancers (they all were), but, they had to have great acrobatic abilities to move and be “Les Cagelles.” One would wonder how they can stay so limber and not be injured. It must take a lot of practice and careful planning to be able to do that night after night.

LA CAGE AUX FOLLES is a show you should not miss. It plays until Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio, Texas. Tickets can be purchased by going to http://majesticempire.com/ or going to the Majestic Theatre Box Office.
