Christmas is coming in Hohman, Indiana, and all 9-year-old Ralphie wants for Christmas is the legendary official Red Ryder 200-Shot Carbine Action Range Model Air Rifle with a compass and this thing which tells time built right in the stock. The problem is that every adult in his life, beginning with his mother, is afraid he'll shoot his eye out with it. Ralphie's attempts to persuade Santa and his parents that he should get the Red Ryder gun form the basis fr this heartwarming and nostalgic look at growing up in a small town in America in 1938.
Directed with finesse by Artistic Director Greg Hinojosa, everyone’s favorite holiday movie makes its way off the big screen and onto the big stage this holiday season with Woodlawn Theatre’s production of ‘A Christmas Story’. Starring some of San Antonio’s finest actors, including ATAC Award winning Mindy Fuller as Miss Shields, Bob Galindo as The Old Man, and Cutter Grant as Ralphie, the kid on the legendary quest for the best Christmas present known to mankind, this stellar cast have joined together to create some loveable and truly unforgettable characters.
Narrating the show as the adult Ralph, the character based on author and radio personality Jean Shepherd himself, is local actor Ben Scharff. Scharff has been seen in multiple Woodlawn Theatre productions, including ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ as Eddie, ‘Boogie Monster Mash’ as Bad Bad Wolfie Brown, and ‘25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’ as William Morris Barfée.
Opening November 23, the show will run Friday & Saturday evenings @ 7:30PM and Sundays @ 3:00PM through December 23.
