Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci delves into the lives of a traveling comedy troupe in Sicily, showcasing the tension between their on-stage performances and off-stage personal dramas. The opera centers on Canio, the troupe leader, whose deep jealousy and suspicion towards his wife, Nedda, create a tragic narrative filled with love triangles and emotional turmoil. As the line between performance and reality blurs, the consequences of passion and betrayal unfold with devastating impact. Jonathan Burton takes on the role of Canio, while Lydia Grindatto plays Nedda in this poignant production, conducted by Joseph Colaneri.
