The non-profit West Side Theatre Company has recently been formed to bring more theatre to the west side of Utah Lake, including Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs. Its initial production will be FIRST IMPRESSIONS: A BROADWAY BENEFIT CONCERT on April 28, when its first full season of entertainment will be announced.
The theatre group's website at www.westsidetheatreco.org is now live and provides opportunities to be added to its mailing and audition lists, or to volunteer or donate.
The mission of West Side Theatre Company is to expand minds and foster culture through diversity; cultivate creativity, innovation and mastery of the performing arts through artistry; and create a high quality, affordable theatrical experience that inspires, uplifts and effects change in the community.
"This theatre company is important because it will provide an outlet for so many passionate artists in the area, make theatre more accessible to the local community, and hopefully change lives for the better like mine has been changed," said founding board member Hannah Farr.
"I love living here, but what's missing for me is this element--a highly active theatre community and a consistent place for us to perform," said Farr. "Having this theatre company here will only bring value, life, and joy to this area."
Remember the first time you held your newborn child? Or the time you misjudged someone upon first meeting? Do you believe in love at first sight? We can all relate to those "first time" feelings we've had when someone new enters our own small world. West Side Theatre Company is pleased to introduce itself with FIRST IMPRESSIONS: A BROADWAY BENEFIT CONCERT, which explores that very idea. It does so via a variety of songs from beloved classics such as THE SOUND OF MUSIC and SOUTH PACIFIC, contemporary hits such as WICKED and HAMILTON, and lesser-known gems you will adore. They will be sung by talented musical theatre performers from Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs.
"FIRST IMPRESSIONS is the theatre's first show because it is our introduction to the community," said Farr. "The whole show is made up of musical theatre selections about people meeting or seeing others for the first time and having new experiences, and that is exactly what we are to the community. We are a new experience. They are meeting us for the first time."
The one-night-only performance will be held April 28 at 8 p.m. at Garden Near the Green, located at the intersection between Cedar Fort Road (UT-73) and Ranches Parkway (just 15 minutes from the I-15 American Fork Main St. exit, and only a few minutes from the Crossroads in Saratoga Springs). As the first fundraiser of West Side Theatre Company, there is no set ticket price--only a suggested minimum donation of $10.
West Side Theatre Company has been registered as a non-profit organization in the state of Utah.
