Utah Shakespeare Fest 50th Anniversary Continues With Two New Plays

The golden anniversary continues as the Utah Shakespeare Festival prepares to open two new plays in the Randall L. Jones Theatre. Dial M for Murder by Frederick Knott and William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale begin previews on September 23 and run through October 22, along with Michael Frayn's Noises Off! which opened in July.

Fall performances play Tuesdays through Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased at www.bard.org and 1-800-PLAYTIX.

"The fall shows embrace the same quality and excitement that we've seen throughout the Festival's 50th season," said Production Director Raymond Inkel. "Audiences have a lot to look forward to. Dial M for Murder is a rollercoaster of suspense, whereas The Winter's Tale is one of Shakespeare's best fairytales. And don't forgot about the fabulous romp that is Noises Off!"

Laura Gordon, who is making her first festival appearance, is directing The Winter's Tale, and she thinks it is one of Shakespeare's most beautiful romances. A king, a queen, and their daughter are reunited-both physically and spiritually -through the power of forgiveness. What begins as a tale of betrayal and jealousy becomes, through time, a story of love and cleansing reconciliation.

Artistic Director Brian Vaughn is directing the thrilling murder mystery, Dial M for Murder. Fellow Artistic Director David Ivers plays Tony, a man who married for money and then decides to kill for it. It's a dark, dangerous, delightful whodunit of forbidden love, delightful suspense, blackmailers, and backstabbers-figuratively and literally.

All play tickets include free admission to all orientations, morning lectures and seminars on topics like acting and prop design. Patrons can also purchase tickets to additional educational events such as the Backstage Tour, and Repertory Magic.

Tickets for the Festival's 50th anniversary season, which will run through October 22, 2011, are now on sale.
