Utah Repertory Theater will present its first play of the 2017 season with the Utah premiere of The Other Place.

Originally presented off-Broadway in 2011, The Other Place is a thrilling mystery that revolves around Juliana, a successful neurologist whose life is becoming unhinged. However, in this brilliantly crafted work things are not always as they seem. Fact blurs with fiction, past collides with present and the elusive truth about Juliana boils to the surface.

"The play has a great sense of mystery," says director Jason Bowcutt. "It unfolds in a way in which truth is elusive and it is difficult to know what to grasp on to. But by the end, everything becomes shockingly clear."

Bowcutt's production features local talents such as Stephanie Howell as Juliana, Eric Cadora as Ian, Andrea Peterson as the woman, and JayC Stoddard as The Man. The show is produced by Johnny Hebda.

"The cast really does a phenomenal job bringing the story and these characters to life." says Bowcutt. "If you like a good psychological thriller, then you can't miss this performance."

The Other Place was nominated for a Tony Award, an Obie Award, and two Outer Circle Critics Awards, including Outstanding New Play of 2011. This is Bowcutt's second production with Utah Rep, following his 2014 direction of [title of show].

The Other Place will run Fridays and Saturdays from February 17 through March 4. Performances are at 7:30 pm. There will also be a special matinee performance on Sunday, February 26, at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 for adults and $17.00 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased online at www.utahrep.org.

The Sorenson Unity Center is located at 1383 S 900 W, Salt Lake City, Utah.
