Kingsbury Hall Presents and University of Utah Youth Theatre present a stage adaptation of The Boxcar Children, based on the beloved children's books by Gertrude Chandler Warner. Adapted by Barbara Field, directed by Hugh Hansen and starring a multi-generational cast, The Boxcar Children will be performed at Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah campus on Thursday and Friday, March 24 and 25 at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students 18 and under, and are available by calling 801-581-7100 or visiting www.kingtix.com.
Based on the popular children's book, The Boxcar Children tells the story of four orphans - Henry, Jessie, Violet and Benny - who make their home in an abandoned railroad boxcar to keep their family together. Though the story and characters are the same, the stage adaptation focuses on the psychological and social dimensions of the book. The story is a reminder that families sometimes take different shapes and forms than what we think they are supposed to be. With themes of personal integrity, maturity, and appreciating the things in life that cannot be bought, this story has captured the imagination of generations of children!
