The Ziegfeld Theater, helmed by new Artistic Director Hugh Hanson, is ready to heat up to summer a little early with the cult favorite film-turned-Broadway-musical, The Full Monty.
LET IT GO. Before there was Elsa, there were a group of blue collar men from Buffalo on the road to self-discovery, in more ways than one. Based on the cult hit film of the same name, The Full Monty, a ten-time Tony Award nominee, is filled with honest affection, engaging melodies and the most highly anticipated closing number of any show.
While spying on their wives at a "Girls' Night Out," a group of unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo sees how much they enjoy watching male strippers. Jealous, out of work and feeling emasculated, the men come up with a bold way to make some quick cash. In preparing, they find themselves extremely exposed physically and emotionally. As they conquer their fears, self-consciousness and prejudices, the men come to discover that they're stronger as a group, and the strength that they find in each other gives them the individual courage to "let it go."
Bringing this forceful and endearing story to life is acclaimed director, and local, Hugh Hanson. Hugh is a professor in the theater department of the University of Utah and boasts a long list of directing credits across Utah and further. The Full Monty marks his directorial debut with The Ziegfeld Theater after coming onboard as its new Artistic Director this year.
The Full Monty is music directed by Kyle Lawrence and choreographed by Joshua Samuel Robinson.
The Ziegfeld Theater continues its sixth season with this bold, heartwarming musical for adult audiences. Under the executive leadership of Caleb Parry and the artistic leadership of Hugh Hanson, the theater pursues a mission of "Professional Standard, Community Spirit" as it strives to bring quality entertainment to diverse audiences in Northern Utah.
