2. Disney's NEWSIES at the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City, June 7 to 12 and August 25 to 28, www.broadwayinutah.com

3. ROCK OF AGES at the Ziegfeld Theater in Ogden, June 3 to 25, www.theziegfeldtheater.com

This Utah premiere of a recent Broadway hit (also adapted to a major motion picture) is sure to be a wild trip to the '80s featuring all the hit songs you remember.

4. BIG RIVER at Hale Centre Theatre in West Valley City, May 26 to July 3, www.halecentretheatre.org

What other show can you see this summer that features real rain and a river made of an impressive 9,000-gallon tank of water? Add the beloved story of Huck Finn, and you have an exciting night of theatre.

5. CABARET produced by Utah Repertory Theater at Sorenson Unity Center in Salt Lake City, August 26 to September 11, www.utahrep.org

On the heels of last season's Broadway revival comes a local production from a company that has seen great success with the kind of environmental staging the show is known for.

6. SCERA Outdoor Season at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre in Orem, June 3 to September 5, www.scera.org

Tickets are affordable enough to bring the whole family. Sit together on SCERA's grassy hill and share a picnic under the stars as you enjoy community theatre (Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID, FOOTLOOSE, and SOUTH PACIFIC) and concerts from artists such as Broadway star Laura Osnes.
