Pulitzer Prize-winning author Wallace Stegner (portrayed by Richard Scharine) is the dean of Western writers. Wallace Thurman (portrayed by Carleton Bluford) was a young, gay black man at the heart of the Harlem Renaissance. Both called Salt Lake City home.
Their lives intertwine in this rumination on the power of place and the meaning of home. Please visit http://planbtheatre.org/wallaceinfo for biographical information on the playwrights as well as essays on why they wrote WALLACE. Additional biographical information on Wallace Stegner and Wallace Thurman attached. WALLACE is comprised of two intertwined solo plays: FIRE! by Jenifer Nii (based on the writings Wallace Thurman, commissioned by Plan-B Theatre) and WHERE I COME FROM by Debora Threedy (based on the writings of Wallace Stegner, commissioned by the Wallace Stegner Center for Land, Resources and the Environment).
