Utah Repertory Theater Company presents the revolutionary rock opera "Rent" Sept. 20-Oct. 6 at downtown Salt Lake City's The Project. Check out a brand new teaser trailer for the production below!
A celebration of life and the heroic struggle to survive, "Rent" electrified a whole generation of theatergoers. It was an immediate hit when it premiered off Broadway in 1996 and went on to win every major musical award, including the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize for drama.
"Rent" is story of seven friends struggling to survive and create their works in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
Directed and choreographed by Utah Rep board member William Cooper Howell, "Rent" will be accompanied by a live professional band with musical direction by Rick Rea.
Utah Rep has been called "Utah's most exciting up-and-coming theater company" by Broadway World.
Performances are Sept. 20-Oct. 6 on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. matinees Saturday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Oct. 6.
