The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley will be presented at the SCERA Center for the Arts from October 15 through November 2. Shawn Mortensen portrays the little boy who is literally flattened after an accident and begins traveling through the mail in a series of adventures in his quest to become three-dimensional once more.
Stanley Lambchop is an ordinary ten-year-old boy and that’s the problem – his life is just too normal. He wants to travel the world and do amazing things. One night, the bulletin board above Stanley’s bed falls right on top of him…and he wakes up flat – really, really flat! In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley scours the globe for a solution to his unusual problem. He’s stamped, posted and mailed from Hollywood to France to Honolulu and beyond. And while he has lots of fun thwarting a robbery at the Louvre Museum and hanging ten off the coast of Hawaii, all Stanley really wants is to be normal again and be with his family.
Eight actors comprise the cast, and several of them perform multiple roles. Besides Mortensen, major roles are filled by Cathy Frisby as Mrs. Lambchop, Mark Pulham as Mr. Lambchop, Andy Walsh as Stanley’s nerdy brother Arthur, Samantha Frisby as the mail lady and narrator and Jerry Elison as Dr. Dan.
Assisting director Julie Nevin are Nat Reed as set designer, Kelsey Seaver as the costumer, Shawn Mortensen as choreographer, Andrew Walsh as the music director, and Danielle Berry, stage manager.
