The Halloween season is the perfect time for a fairy tale mix up as SCERA's monthly puppet show series presents Chicken Fried Puppets' "The Hairy Tail of Rat-punzel" on Saturday, October 19 @ 11:00am.

The puppet show takes place in Showhouse II at SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem. General admission tickets are $3/person (ages 3 and older) and are available by at SCERA, open 10am-6pm weekdays and Saturdays from 12Noon-6pm, by calling (801) 225-ARTS, online at www.scera.org, or at the door 30 minutes prior to the show.

"The Hairy Tail of Rat-punzel" is a spin on the traditional story of Rapunzel, and this crazy, clever and creative puppet show is a "cheesy" tale of one Rat-princess in a tower and a boy who can't stomach the wishes he has been granted.

Chicken Fried Puppets is Lara McAllister, Randall McNair and Dallin Blankenship. Lara, aka the Fairy Rodmother, has been performing since donning her first tutu at age four. A natural with children, she brings Ratpunzel to life. Randall decided eight years ago to live a life of poverty and puppets! As a former member of McMazing Tales, he has now joined forces with Chicken Fried Puppets. Dallin is a full-time computer animation student nurturing a crazy puppet building passion. He first ventured into the world of puppets a few years ago, and has since cultivated a great love for bringing these little characters to life.

SCERA's Puppet Shop hosts a new puppet show the third Saturday of each month, and upcoming shows will be held on November 16, December 21, January 18. February 15, March 15 April 19, and May 17.

Nat Reed, SCERA's Technical Director, is a puppeteer himself, and is in charge of bringing the art of puppetry to SCERA audiences. "It's fun for the whole family," he says, "and you get to see some of the best puppeteers in the state."
