SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Dancing Under the Stars with choreographers and dancers who are taking the dance world by storm-when producer Kim Delgrosso presents an evening of choreographic and performance excellence this weekend, Aug. 21 and 22 @ 8pm.

She is bringing in the Ballet West dance stage for LA-based headliner group Jaci Royal's Royal Flux contemporary dance group who will perform dancing so precise it seems almost unbelievable.

"I have wanted to get Jaci for some time," explains Delgrosso. "When I see what she does, I am blown away. Her work was featured this past week on the FOX TV show 'So You Think You Can Dance,' and she recently premiered the work you are going to see in Los Angeles. Her show was fabulous. Oh, and a segment of the dance has the performers on their heads rolled out on boards onstage."

Delgrosso says she keeps thinking "You can't reinvent the wheel and then I see a choreographer like Jaci Royal and realize you can reinvent that wheel."

"Royal Flux is phenomenal and will comprise the second half of the evening."

A pre-show featuring area dance studios will begin at 7:15pm.

General admission tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children (age 3-11) and seniors (age 65 and older). Reserved area seating ranges from $20 to $30 for adults and $15 to $25 for children and seniors. Tickets are available at scera.org, by calling 801-225-ARTS, at the main office at SCERA Center Center for the Arts, open 10am-6pm weekdays and Saturdays from 12Noon-6pm, or at the Shell gate prior to the performances.

Delgrosso believes Royal's star is on the ascent and she will become a household name in the dance world. "She is beautiful and soft spoken. Her dancers are incredibly loyal to her and trust her completely," Delgrosso says. "She is able to create phenomenal things on their bodies, and the result is entertaining and fresh."

Royal created the choreography for Delgrosso's dancers from Center Stage Performing Arts Stuidos who recently went to New York City and subsequently won the top jazz award at the prestigious annual Dance Awards. Center Stage will perform their award-winning pieces at this event.

In addition to Royal, Dancing Under The Stars will include the Salt Lake City professional dance group Divinity, and singer Aaliya Rose, a Provo singer who sang at the finale of the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards and is in collaborations with Dreamworks. Attending the show will be Emmy-Award winner Mia Michaels whose choreography is currently featured on Broadway in "Finding Neverland."

As part of the week, Delgrosso will present the fifth annual Utah DanceFest Workshops Aug. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Center Stage Performing Arts Studio, 575 N. 1200 West, Orem. An all day workshop is also planned Aug. 22. Workshops include a ticket to Dancing Under the Stars. Dancers may register at www.dancefestutah.com.

This year's workshop includes Mia Michaels with additional classes taught by Francisco Gella, Denise Wall, Jaci Royal and members of her professional company. In addition, Mia Michaels will host two master classes Aug. 21 in the afternoon and evening, which can be purchased ala carte. Denise Wall will also hold a free teacher workshop on Saturday exclusively for studios who bring students to DanceFest.
