As part of their 53rd season of dance in Salt Lake City, Repertory Dance Theatre is excited to announce a performance by one of the dance world's most exciting artists. RDT will present Danielle Agami, Artistic Director of Ate9 Dance Company, in a solo performance on March 14, 2019 in the Black Box Theatre at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.
The former Senior Manager of Gaga U.S.A. and rehearsal director for Batsheva Dance Company, Agami has been commissioned by dance companies all over the world and was named one of Dance Magazine's Top 25 to Watch in 2015. She founded Ate9 Dance Company in Los Angeles in 2012.
Agami will perform her solo show, FRAMED, an intimate look into womanhood as experienced by Agami herself.
Growing up, Agami was surrounded by special female role models, especially her mother as the center of the household. As with so many Israeli women, her mother's strength and presence set the tone, color, and atmosphere every day. Yet below those strengths, a fragility and ceaseless drive for perfection also thrived. In the solo performance, Agami unravels her experience as a woman as she hosts a curious, expecting audience. She wonders about the mission of hosting, asking herself "What is expected for me to provide?" The work is full of humor and honesty coupled with Agami's unforgettable physicality.
Agami will be in town to work with RDT to re-stage her 2016 commission, Theatre, which will return as a part of RDT's spring show, VOICES (April 11-13, 2019).
