Plan-B Theatre Company, the American Civil Liberties Union of Utah and the Planned Parenthood Association of Utah present a free staged reading of Henrik Ibsen's A DOLL HOUSE in a new translation by Eric Samuelsen as part of Plan-B Theatre Company's SCRIPT-IN-HAND SERIES.

A DOLL HOUSE centers on the seemingly happy marriage of Nora and Torvald Helmer. Widely regarded as the first truly feminist play, A DOLL HOUSE examines gender roles and social constraints through Nora's awakening. Having been ruled her whole life by either her father or her husband, questions everything she has believed in when secrets surface that put her marriage to the test.

Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906), the father of Modern theatre, is considered by many to be the greatest playwright since Shakespeare. His plays include PEER GYNT, A DOLL HOUSE, GHOSTS, AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, THE WILD DUCK, ROMMERSHOLM, THE LADY FROM THE SEA, HEDDA GABLER, THE MASTER BUILDER and LITTLE EYOLF.

Eric Samuelsen's plays MIASMA, AMERIGO and BORDERLANDS have received their world premieres at Plan-B Theatre Company. Fluent in Norwegian, he is also an Ibsen translator of note, having translated LITTLE EYOLF, GHOSTS, HEDDA GABLER and A DOLL HOUSE.

With Tobin Atkinson, Joe Debevc, Zoe Fossen, Quinn Lewis-Humlicek, Deena Marie Manzanares, Tracie Merrill, Lauren Noll and Jay Perry. Directed by Jerry Rapier.
