Pioneer Theatre Company Announces Auditions for the Holiday Classic A CHRISTMAS STORY

Auditions for the third show in Pioneer Theatre Company's 2009- 2010 Season, A Christmas Story, will be held on Thursday, September 24th, 2009 from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. Noon to 1p.m. is reserved for AEA (Equity) members only, but AEA members may sign up for any time slot. Callbacks will be the morning of Saturday, September 26th, 2009; the time will be announced. Auditions will be held in Room 245 at the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. Auditioners will be required to read selected sides from the script.

Non-AEA auditioners must come in to sign up for an audition slot on the callboard in Room 325 at the Roy W. and Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre; AEA members may call ElizaBeth Williamson at 801-585-5855 to sign up. The sign-up sheet will be posted by noon on Thursday, September 17th, 2009. Audition sides will be available at the same time. Scripts are available for checkout on an overnight basis from the Business Office (Room 325) of the theatre.

Rehearsal dates for the production are Monday, November 9th, 2009 - Thursday, December 3rd, 2009; performance dates are December 4th, 2009 - December 19th, 2009. Guest artist Paul Barnes will direct the production.

Adult roles include that of the main character, Ralph, as an adult, Ralph's father and mother, and his teacher as he remembers her. Currently all roles are available. Children's auditions for the production take place separately; this audition is for adult roles only.

This is the Utah premiere of the hilarious and heartwarming stage version of Jean Shepard's classic holiday film A Christmas Story (by Philip Grecian, based upon the motion picture A Christmas Story, (c) 1983 Turner Entertainment Co., distributed by Warner Bros., written by Jean Shephard, Leigh Brown and Bob Clark, and In God we Trust, All Others Pay Cash by Jean Shephard.)
