Photo Flash: Pioneer Theatre Company Presents SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET

Just in time for the Halloween season, Pioneer Theatre Company presents the diabolical musical thriller Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by Hugh Wheelerbased on an adaption by Christopher Bond. The Tony-Award winning musical opens October 26, 2018 and runs through November 10, 2018.

Widely acknowledged as Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece, Sweeney Todd tells a dark tale of vengeance and murder, leavened with ghoulish humor, in Victorian London. Returning after being wrongly imprisoned, Sweeney vows revenge on the Judge who incarcerated him, and finds an unlikely ally in Mrs. Lovett, the owner of a struggling meat pie shop who finds a good use for Sweeney's victims.

Kevin Earley plays Sweeney Todd, returning to PTC after 2012's A Christmas Carol: The Musical. Earley's Broadway and National Tour credits include: Death Takes a Holiday, Les Misérables, Thoroughly Modern Millie and A Tale of Two Cities.
Anne Tolpegin returns to PTC after Sting's The Last Ship to perform as Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney's accomplice and business partner. Tolpegin has appeared on Broadway in A Tale of Two Cities and Les Misérables as well as numerous Off-Broadway shows.
