Photo Flash: Desert Star Playhouse Presents PIRATES OF THE CAR-RIB-EEE-AN

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Desert Star Playhouse sets sail with "Pirates of the Car-Rib-EEE-An: Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Fun!" This zany parody for the whole family opens March 18th.

Written by Ben E. Millet and directed by Scott Holman, "Pirates of the Car-Rib-EEE-An" is a delightful send-up, full of romance, nutty characters and a huge dose of misadventure. The seas of the Caribbean are infested with a scourge of pirates and the pompous Captain Stubbing has sworn to stamp them out. He faces not only the famously eccentric Captain Jack Spratt, but also the devious and cursed Captain Barmitzvah, the Yiddish terror of the high seas! Barmitzvah kidnaps ingénue Eliza Swine and it's up to stableboy Will Doolittle to save her. Will forges an unlikely partnership with Captain Jack and sets out on a bizarre journey to stop Barmitzvah and his goofy crew of misfit pirates. This hilarious show will really swash your buckle!

"Pirates of the Car-Rib-EEE-An is the second show of Desert Star's 2010 Season. Next up is a rollicking send-up of everyone's favorite rednecks in "Beverly Hillbillies 90210." Then comes the return of Utah's longest running show: "My Big Fat Utah Wedding," which plays a limited 10-week engagement. Just in time for Halloween comes "Welcome Back Potter: Harry & Hermione's High School Reunion." Sparks of magic and comedy combine in this delightful parody! The 2010 season ends with a merry holiday romp in "Desert Star's Christmas Vacation: The Bi-Polar Express."

"Pirates of the Car-Rib-EEE-An runs March 18 thru May 15, 2010. The evening also includes one of Desert Star's signature musical olios following the show. "The Curtain's Up Broadway" olio features songs from many hit Broadway shows mixed with more of Desert Star's signature comedy.

Food is available from an á la carte menu and is served right at your table. The menu includes gourmet pizza, fresh wraps, appetizers, and scrumptious desserts.
