Hear the sounds of summer, loud and clear, when Park City Institute presents Smash Mouth, Cracker, and The Romantics, at the St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series, on the Deer Valley Resort stage, Friday August 18, 2017.

"Nobody throws a party like Smash Mouth," said PCI Executive Director Teri Orr. "And having Cracker bring their country-tinged, punk-infused sound to the show, along with The Romantics, who have played new-wave pop together, for nearly 40 years, makes the night a whole lot of fun."

Smash Mouth's major label debut "Fush Yu Mang" went more than double-platinum, and set the table for the 1999 follow-up album "Astrolounge," boasting three top-ten hits. Their live performance showcases their hits, and they'll feature some surprises. This year marks the band's 20th Anniversary.

Soulful alt-rock band, Cracker has toured nearly non-stop since the 90s, releasing 10 studio albums along the way. Boyhood buddies, David Lowery (vocalist) and Johnny Hickman (guitar), defined hits like "Low," "Euro-Trash Girl," and "Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out With Me," through collaborations with longtime bandmates J*Davey Faragher (bass) and Michael Urbano (drums), among others. Nashville Scene called the group's double album, Berkeley to Bakersfield, "twice as clever, twice as acerbic, twice as fun."

The Romantics' signature power pop remains solid. The band layers sincerity, irony, spontaneity, and plenty of volume, onto the Detroit sound shared by artists like the Stooges, Bob Seger, and the MC5, resulting in party-staple hits, including, "What I Like About You," and "Talking in Your Sleep."

Expect an evening of up-on-your-feet fun. Tickets for this show start at $41 (lawn) and $56 (reserved). Gates open at 5:30 PM and the show begins at 7.
