Park City Institute presents The Wallflowers, Friday August 24, at 6:00 P.M. The band will perform at Quinn's Junction Sports Complex Fields, as part of the 2018 St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series. Gates open at 4:30 P.M., the show begins at 6:00 P.M.

"We are excited to present The Wallflowers," said PCI Executive Director Teri Orr.. "Jakob Dylan and the band staked a claim on roots rock and redefined the way we think about rock music-familiar, while pushing the boundaries of what the audience expects."

The Wallflowers were created in 1989, by singer-songwriter Jakob Dylan and Tobi Miller (guitar). As the band grew and changed into their first decade, they won two GRAMMY awards: Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Rock Song for their song, "One Headlight" in 1998. "One Headlight" is also listed at #58 in Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Pop Songs. The Wallflowers' iconic style is credited for providing a backbone to American blues rock. Many years of recording and touring followed. The band had a few more changes over the years, taking breaks for solo projects and other collaborations. However, Dylan says the vision has remained the same."We've always dug down to the roots," he said. "And we've always tried to represent the history of American rock music." The band regrouped, in 2011, with Greg Richling (bass), Rami Jaffee (keyboards), Stuart Mathis (guitar), and Jack Irons (drums).

Rolling Stone praised The Wallflowers' latest album, "Glad All Over": "Jakob Dylan's group has picked up where it left off: with sharp roots-rock songs full of sturdy hooks, deadpan jokes and pathos that sneaks up on you."

Guests can expect a show that highlights the band's hits, deeper cuts from their studio albums, as well as some choice covers from rock's rich history.
