Park City Institute Executive Director Teri Orr, announced the addition of a roots music show to the 2017 St Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Concert Series at Deer Valley® Resort. Parsonsfield will headline the evening, joined by Laney Jones and the Spirits, and Jeffrey Foucault.

"These three talented acts are among the stars of the roots music scene, and we're thrilled to have them on our stage," Orr said. "Because all of these musicians are constantly evolving, blending new influences into a timeless genre, this is going to be an evening of discovery for everyone from devoted roots and bluegrass fans, to rock-and-roll lovers, and singer-songwriter purists."

Known as innovators who take inspiration from the string bands of Appalachia, Parsonsfield blends tight, multi-part harmonies with a natural exuberance and energy. Chris Freeman (vocals, banjo) Max Shakun (vocals, pump organ, guitar), Harrison Whale Goodale (bass), Erik Hirschmann (drums), have been hailed by Folk Alley for a sound that "kick(s) out the windows of what most people think of folk and bluegrass."

Named one of Rolling Stone's 10 Country Artists You Need to Know, Laney Jones and the Spirits has evolved, in a few short years, from pure roots to a rock-n-roll sound that blends indie, folk, pop and soul. Jones got her start in coffeehouses, attended Berklee College of Music, and was recognized by the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Her music has been licensed by Pixar, Dreamworks and ABC. Jones is known for her philosophical lyrics, that mix Millennial viewpoints with a retro sound.

NPR calls Jeffrey Foucault a "pure songwriter... his songs are simple and powerful." Others call his sound, "hypnotic." Foucault, who first began playing music at age 17, has been compared to Bob Dylan, John Prine and Greg Brown. He's an artist's artist-people like Don Henley often cover his songs in live sets, and he has a devoted following that continues to grow. In fact, he was named one of the Top Ten Roots Artists to Watch in 2017, by No Depression, the Journal of Roots Music.

Tickets for this show start at $44 (lawn) and $59 (reserved).
