In its 50th anniversary season, Pioneer Theatre Company will present William Shakespeare's The Tempest - in the year of the play's 400th anniversary. The classic, whimsical tale of magic, love and revenge plays October 21 through November 5, 2011.
On a deserted island, the exiled Duke of Milan, a powerful magician, rules over an assortment of spirits, sprites, and monsters while his teenaged daughter grows up under his watchful eyes. When the ship carrying the brother who deposed him is wrecked upon his shores, Prospero must choose between forgiveness and revenge. Shakespeare's final and most wonderful romance is filled with magic, comedy and some of the most profoundly beautiful dramatic verse ever written. Directed by Charles Morey in his final season as PTC Artistic Director.
