Pioneer Theatre Company continues the sixth season of Play-by-Play's New Play Reading Series with The Fifth Domain by playwright, Victor Lesniewski. The readings will take place at the Dumke Auditorium in the Utah Museum of Fine Arts Building on Friday, January 25 at 7:30PM and Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2:00PM and 7:30PM.

Timely and topical, the play centers on Troy, a cyber security expert, recently removed from his position at the National Security Agency. When he is approached about a new project requiring his special skills, Troy's eagerness to take on the work blinds him to the repercussions in the world of cyber war. According to Lesniewski, The Fifth Domain is a thriller that "asks basic questions about patriotism, espionage and accountability in the digital age."

Playwright VICTOR LESNIEWSKI's plays include Couriers and Contrabands (World Premiere at TBG Theatre in NYC, Critic Howard Miller's 2015 Best of Off & Off-Off Broadway List, Developmental Workshop at New York Theatre Workshop), Cloven Tongues (World Premiere at The Wild Project in NYC), Where Bison Run (Ars Nova Out Loud Reading Series, NY Times Profile), Amid Purpleheart (Geva Theatre Center Concert Reading), Pipistrellus (The Dramatists Guild Fellowship), Khardal (Berkeley Rep's The Ground Floor), Cold Spring (Ashland New Plays Festival), and Tentative City (Roundabout's Space Jam at Wyoming Theater Festival). He was the only American to be shortlisted for the inaugural Theatre503 Playwriting Award, which included six writers culled from over 1,600 applicants.

Guest Director Kareem Fahmy is a Canadian-born director of Egyptian descent who focuses on new play development. He was a 2017-2018 National Directors Fellow with The O'Neill/NNPN/The Kennedy Center/SDC. He has directed and co-conceived a number of World Premiere productions, including Lesniewski's Couriers and Contrabands.

Featuring a cast of four, patrons will see familiar faces in the reading: Equity actors Austin Archer (Peter and the Starcatcher, The 26th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Newsies), Laura Hall (Something's Afoot, A Christmas Carol: The Musical and this season's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) and Jessica Naimy (from this season's Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley) all return to PTC, as does University of Utah graduate BIJAN HOSSEINI (2016 Play-by-Play reading of Honor Killing).
