PTC Presents Bram Stoker's Dracula 10/22-11/6

Pioneer Theatre Company presents Bram Stoker's Dracula, October 22, 2010 - November 6, 2010.

The original adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula is by PTC Artistic Director Charles Morey, who also directs the production. The play was premiered at PTC in 1990 and went on to receive over a dozen productions, including productions at the Peterborough Players (1991) and the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (1992). It is currently also being produced at the Denver Center Theatre Company, and will be produced next spring at L.A. Theatre Works. That production will be recorded and broadcast on NPR and satellite radio stations throughout the country.

Playing the part of Count Dracula is Mark Elliot WILSON. Wilson's New York and tour credits include Salome at Circle Repertory Theatre with Al Pacino, Terra Nova at Capital Repertory Theatre, and a tour with Barefoot in the Park. Film and television credits include We Need to Talk About Kevin, Pistol Whipped, World Trade Center, Law & Order, Fringe and The Bronx is Burning. He returns to PTC after having appeared as Cassius in Julius Caesar and as Stanley in A Streetcar Named Desire.

The team of vampire hunters seeking to destroy the monster Dracula is led by Abraham Van Helsing, played by Bob Ari, who was seen last season in PTC's Twelve Angry Men. Ari's New York credits include Frost/Nixon (as understudy for the part of Nixon, played by Frank Langella), Bells Are Ringing, and Picasso at the Lapin Agile among many others. Regionally, he's been seen at the Fulton Opera House, Long Wharf Theatre, Walnut Street Theatre and others. His long list of film and television credits includes Two Lovers, Kissing Jessica Stein, Wanted and the upcoming The Onion News Network.

The young solicitor Jonathan Harker, sent by his employer to transfer an estate to Count Dracula, is played by Christopher Kelly. Kelly has appeared in New York in the revival of Lillian Hellman's Another Part of the Forest at the Theatre at St. Clement's and in the Drama Desk-nominated Moby Dick at Ohio Theatre. His regional credits across the country include Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing, The Cripple of Inishmaan and many others. On television, Kelly had a recurring role on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, and appeared in the film Brothers of the Borderland. He returns to PTC after appearing in the world premiere of The Yellow Leaf and in The Foreigner.

Mina Harker, Jonathan's wife, is played by Allison Mclemore. McLemore was seen in New York in The Madras House at The Mint Theater Company. Her regional credits include Last Train to Nibroc, See Rock City, and Gulf View Drive at The Chester Theatre Company, The Underpants at The Olney Theatre, Cyrano de Bergerac at Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Othello and Jane Eyre at Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre and many others. This is her PTC debut.

Playing the part of Lucy Westenra, a young woman who falls under Dracula's spell, is Stephanie Fieger. Fieger appeared off-Broadway in Macbeth at The Public Theater, and in such productions as A Doll's House, The Bear, The Proposal for New York's Infinite Theatre. Regionally she has worked for theatres including The Old Globe, Merrimack Repertory, and Shakespeare on the Sound. This marks Fieger's PTC debut.

The part of Renfield is played by Mark Boyett. In New York, Boyett has been seen in Clean Alternatives at 59E59 (Fringe First Award winner, Edinburgh Festival), Old Wicked Songs at The Promenade Theatre, and A Play On Words at 59E59. He has appeared regionally at theatres across the country, including in several world premieres, and has narrated numerous books for Audible.com including the award-winning titles Methland and The Good Soldiers. This marks his PTC debut.

Dr. Seward, one of the men who helps Van Helsing track down Dracula, is played by Craig Wroe. Wroe appeared in London's West End in Miss Evers' Boys, and off-Broadway in numerous productions including Catch-22, An Oak Tree, Othello, The Tempest, The Winter's Tale and Richard II. He has appeared regionally in many theatres across the country and on television in such shows as Royal Pains, Rescue Me, Burn Notice, Third Watch, Ed, The Education of Max Bickford and many others. He was last seen at PTC in the 2010 production of Our Town, and in fact reprises the role of Dr. Seward from past productions of Dracula in different parts of the country, including PTC's 1990 production.

The part of Arthur Holmwood, the vampire hunter who grieves for his lost love, is played by John-Michael Marrs. Marrs' New York credits include Hater with SoHo Think Tank/Ohio Theatre, Richard III with New York Classical Theatre, Hamlet with The Queen's Players, and readings and/or workshops with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, The Public Theater, New Dramatists, Cherry Lane and New World Stages. He has been seen regionally at the Shakespeare Theatre Company, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and others. Marrs makes his PTC debut in this production.

Appearing as Lucy's mother is Glynis Bell. Bell's Broadway and national tour credits include Looped, The Vagina Monologues, Amadeus, My Fair Lady, The Robber Bridegroom, The Time of Your Life, and Heartbreak House. She has appeared in multiple productions off-Broadway in New York, as well as many television appearances including all three Law & Order series. She returns to PTC after recently playing the Nurse in Romeo & Juliet.

Playing multiple roles are Equity actors Steven Fehr, JUSTIN IVIE, and TRACIE MERRILL. Rounding out the ensemble are local actors Natalie BlackMAN, KATIE DRISCOLL, and KORY KYKER.

Set design is by guest artist Peter HarrisON. Harrison is a nominee of the American Theatre Wing Design and Barrymore Awards. His recent credits include Horton Foote's The Roads to Home off-Broadway with Jean Stapleton. In opera, he has served as resident designer for the Cleveland Orchestra Blossom Opera and has designed for New York City Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, American Music Theatre Festival, Juilliard Opera and Chicago Opera Theater.

Costume design for the production is by CAROL WELLS-DAY. Wells-Day is one of PTC's resident costume designers and the costume shop supervisor. Her recent designs for PTC include Is He Dead?, Dial 'M' for Murder, The Light in the Piazza, The Heiress, and Doubt, among dozens of others. She was assistant designer for Inherit the Wind at the Ford Theatre in Washington D.C., and worked for the Utah Shakespearean Festival for 13 years as a costume shop supervisor and designer.

Guest designer KENDALL SMITH lights the production. As the Resident Designer for Michigan Opera Theatre for the last twenty years, he has designed over 55 productions. His many other regional credits include designs for Geva Theatre, Studio Theatre in D.C., Merrimack Repertory Theatre, and North Shore Music Theatre. His extensive opera designs include work for Minnesota Opera, Virginia Opera and Eugene Opera, among others.

Sound design is by PTC resident sound designer MATTHEW TIBBS, and hair and makeup design is by AMANDA FRENCH, also a PTC resident designer.

Pioneer Theatre Company, Utah's premier resident professional theatre, performs at Roy W. and Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre, located on the University of Utah campus at 300 South and 1400 East in Salt Lake City, easily accessible by TRAX light rail.
