New Directors Elected to USITT Board

Six technical theatre professionals were elected to USITT's Board of Directors in online voting this month. Two board members were re-elected and four new members won seats on USITT's 29-member board for three-year terms beginning July 1, 2016.

The board oversees leadership of USITT, the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, the national non-profit for performing arts design and technology professionals.

The new directors are:

  • Jim Streeter, Production Manager at Princeton University's Frist Campus Center and Performance Theatre.
  • Tina Shackleford, Professor of Stage Management and Production at Carnegie Mellon School of Drama.
  • David S. Stewart, Production Director at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis.
  • Carey Hanson, Associate Professor of Costume Design at the University of Mississippi.

Re-elected to their second three-year terms are:

  • Kim Scott, Company Manager, Cirque du Soleil, CRISS Angel BeLIEve and The Beatles LOVE.
  • Paul Brunner, Associate Professor, Technical Director and head of the MFA Theatre Technology Program at Indiana University's Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance.

From March 16-19, USITT bring its Annual Conference & Stage Expo to Salt Lake City for the first time. The four-day show is expected to draw 5,000 members of the backstage community for four days of workshops, presentations, celebrations, and demonstrations of the latest technology for producing live entertainment.
