This November the Pinnacle Acting Company will present Dancing at Lughnasa, a play by Brian Friel. The play tells the story of five unmarried sisters living in Ireland in 1936 and will be hosted at the Midvale Performing Arts Center.
The show opens at the pagan festival of Lughnasa, which celebrates the god of the harvest with drinking and dancing. The story, told through the eyes of the illegitimate son of one of the sisters, describes the lives of the five sisters as their lives are interrupted by the music of the radio, the return of their elderly brother from a mission trip in Uganda, and the appearance of his father, a charming Welsh drifter. These events disrupt the foundation of the family, throwing their lives into new territory.
The cast and crew for Dancing at Lughnasa has yet to be announced. The show will open November 4th, and will run November 4-6, 11-13 and 18-20.
