Latin Grammy Award-winners, Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band, bring their indie-style songs to the Eccles Center in Park City, for two shows, on December 27. The band will perform at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., as part of the Park City Institute's 20th Anniversary Main Stage Season at the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Center. With original songs that mix English and Spanish, the group-founded by husband-and-wife-team Lucky Diaz and Alisha Gaddis, has been called "The Rolling Stones of Kids' Music," by the Style Network.
"Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band has toured all over the country, and have a hit PBS show. We are thrilled to bring these GRAMMY and EMMY award-winning artists to our stage," said PCI Executive Director Teri Orr. "These family-friendly shows are also an opportunity for us to celebrate the diversity in our community."
With five acclaimed and award-winning albums, their music explores all of the wonder and joy of a young person's life. The first American group to win a Latin Grammy in the Children's Music category, Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band, have also earned an Emmy award for their popular PBS show Lishy Lou and Lucky Too. The couple, who are raising two bilingual children, use their music as a way to illustrate different aspects of mixed-culture American life. Their hit single, "Paletero Man," pays tribute to the ice cream trucks that are hot-weather fixtures in neighborhoods in Los Angeles-and all over the country.
"The Paletero Man is my song in support of immigrants-everywhere in the States," Diaz told Billboard. "The paletero man is a reflection of the hard-working Latino/immigrant making his dreams come true in America. He brings the flavors of home for many displaced Mexicans. This is an immigrant anthem. We can all unite over ice cream, can't we?"
The band's frequent live TV appearances on Sprout, CNN and Univision, combined with nationwide touring, have earned them praise. Called, "THE face of kiddie music," by the Washington Post, and "Superstars," by Red Tricycle, Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band's irresistible pop beats appeal to kids of all ages.
