Break out the tinsel and hang your stockings because world renowned Grammy Award winning vocalist, LeAnn Rimes is performing cherished holiday hits and new originals with the Utah Symphony. The Utah Symphony will perform with Ms. Rimes on December 19, 2017 at Abravanel Hall. LeAnn Rimes began singing and dancing in local variety shows at age five. Through her powerful performances, Ms. Rimes quickly built a dedicated following in Texas and garnered the attention of Dallas record promoter and disc jockey Bill Mack. In 1994, the 11-year-old Ms. Rimes recorded her first album, "All That," with the independent label Nor Va Jak.
In 1996 Ms. Rimes signed with Curb Records and recorded the album "Blue," which debuted at No. 3 on the pop charts, selling over 123,000 copies within its first week of release. The album's title song "Blue" reached No. 1 on the Billboard country charts and earned Ms. Rimes a Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Ms. Rimes also captured the 1996 Best New Artist Grammy, a feat never before achieved by a country musician.
This performance is a part of the Utah Symphony holiday season including other concerts with guest artists Midtown Men and the full length feature film screening of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" as the orchestra performs the soundtrack live.
